Ortthopedic rehabilitation is one of the many forms of physical therapy.  It is a kind of treatment that includes a diversity of health conditions that puts weight on skeletal system as well as to the muscular system.  Physical therapy’s orthopedic rehabilitation is done through one-on-one session between the physical therapist and the patient.  This is type of administration is done in order to accurately give the necessary attention or treatment needed by the patient.  People who are tasked to administer orthopedic rehabilitation are well trained in this field.  The length of hours entailed for each session is based on the impact or severity of injury of the patient.

Neck Injuries and back pains, including frozen shoulders, can be subject to a series of session of orthopedic rehabilitation. Same approach is done when you are suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome and sprains on knee and ankles.  Lower back pains may also be cured through this.  This kind of treatment usually needs a post operation or surgery to help in the healing process especially for patients who have suffered from spinal problems, overall hip / knee replacement.  Other skeletal and muscular conditions which may need or require surgery together with the said therapy are total shoulder replacement, laminectomies, repair or rehabilitation of rotator cuffs and meniscectomies.

During the first visit of the patient, the physical therapist that will do the necessary therapy sessions on the patient needs to evaluate first the real condition of the patient in order to determine the patient’s capability to move and up to what range.  The therapist also need to take note of the patient’s posture and up to how much can the patient move his or her body parts.  Aside from the range of movements, the patient also needs to tell the amount of pain that the patient is suffering from and at the same time the strength left within the injured area.  After getting all these important details, The physical therapist may now develop a detailed plan of treatment according to the needs of the patient that were reflected during the evaluation.  After the plan of treatment or therapy, the patient can now undergo the rehabilitation process.

When we talk about the average time for each session, usually it goes for around 30-60 minutes.  Each session may include different kinds of activities depending on what needs to be rehabilitated.  It may include some stretching exercises and manual or massage therapy.  Some of the exercises are equipped with certain exercising machines.  While doing the therapy, the therapist should keep an open conversation as a way of education the patient on his present condition and developments.  This is the reason why therapy or rehabilitation is suggested to be done on a one-on-one session.

In this way, the patient becomes knowledgeable enough about his or her injury as well as the patient can form a deeper relationship with his/her therapist. During the session of orthopedic rehabilitation, the patient is being edified with various exercises and techniques on how to self-manage the signs and symptoms through the therapy.
